Today, we shine the spotlight on the backbone of the Ozzi Kleen Commercial team— David Blee. Dave is our Business Development Manager by title, but in practicality Dave’s role encompasses much more than just brand development. So, what does Dave do at Ozzi Kleen? Well primarily he is Head Commercial Service Technician/Trainer for the Cooper Basin (yes, that means deserts, heat, and flies but also resourcefulness, ingenuity and a little bit of McGuyvering!)! He might be a quiet achiever, but don't let the subtlety fool you; Dave’s a powerhouse when it comes to getting the job done and keeping client operations thriving – even under the most trying or limiting of circumstances
Now, what does a typical day look like for the man with the beard of knowledge? If a field day is situation in which you gain advantage or success – then Dave excels in having a field day with each day he is working “in field” for Ozzi Kleen’s clients! With his extensive product and industry knowledge Dave is able to quickly interpret each individual plant’s needs and carefully match those needs with regulatory requirements and client budget and expectations. Most of Dave’s days begin by interacting with site staff by attending pre-start meetings, and discovering how other site operations may interact with or impact upon water and waste water infrastructure and Ozzi Kleen’s planned activities. Clear and open communication are skills that Dave feels help him and Ozzi Kleen’s Commercial client achieve each days activities safety and efficiently. From there, Dave plans his (and his co-workers) daily tasks around a triage based system of the most urgent needs to be attended to first, followed by routine maintenance activities. So, whether coaxing its best performance out of an existing system, repairing equipment, tackling potable water filter changes, UV maintenance, or installing new Sewerage Treatment Plants Dave takes it all in his calm and professional stride. This makes for full but efficient days, which Dave says are all part of the reason he enjoys working hands on in the field – it gives a real sense of accomplishment and like he is making a positive difference for each site and client.
Every day is different, kind of like a box of chocolates working in remote and isolated areas with limited access to parts and resources you really just don’t quite know what you’re going to get! Each day and location can bring its own set of unique challenges but with the industry leading support from Ozzi Kleen head office in Kunda Park, no matter what curve balls and challenges are thrown at them Dave leads the commercial service team to success and embraces each challenge or restriction as a learning opportunity, turning obstacles into stepping stones furthering his wealth of knowledge.
You might be wondering about Dave's work superpower. Well, hold onto your hats: it’s the ability to diagnose plant issues faster than you can say Kunda Park, I think we have a problem. Whether he’s on-site or troubleshooting over the phone, Dave can pinpoint problems with remarkable precision. This comes in handy when working with clients, who rely on remote technology like Sat Phones, and Dave’s expertise to guide them through the sometimes murky waters of commercial waste water treatment technology.
Dave’s superpower doesn’t end there. He’s also a client whisperer! When it comes to interpreting client needs and converting those requests into actionable plans, Dave is exceptional in his ability to think outside the box and knead a solution into the shape, timeframe, budget and resources that best fit each site and client’s requirements. New plant purchases, redesigns, repairs—you name it; Dave handles it all smoothly, whether it’s related to water or wastewater, near a capital city, regional centre, or beyond the black stump. It’s no wonder clients adore him—their go to “Beard of Knowledge."
What does Ozzi Kleen mean to Dave? It’s more than just a job; it represents a continuous and engaging journey of growth, learning, and impactful service. Dave recognises our company as a leader in design and innovation, a beacon of excellence that can help minimise environmental impact across Australia’s unique landscapes. This green vision and a desire to keep Australia beautiful inspires him daily, encouraging him to continue delivering world-class service through a lens of future generations.
Being a people person plays a pivotal role in Dave’s work. Comfortable conversing with everyone from VIP stakeholders to project managers, plumbers, and rig crew, Dave’s able to forge meaningful connections that often follow those he interacts with from site to site. In this way, Dave helps to spread word of Ozzi Kleen’s products and services to new clients and locations, as site workers move around with utilities companies or new projects. Dave’s genuine enthusiasm for helping others makes working with him a pleasure, and who doesn't love a good chat?
But wait—there’s more to Dave than just work! When the clock strikes quitting time, you might find him heading out into nature, surrounded by pets, vintage cars, and stunning landscapes. Dave possesses a deep affinity for animals, dedicating part of his time to an animal fostering charity that helps find homes for cats and dogs. He currently shares his home with four pet parrots, three frogs, two dogs and 22 chickens who undoubtedly add their colorful personalities to his calm, outdoorsy lifestyle.
Dave is also a vintage car aficionado. He’s part of a volunteer men’s club that engages with community groups to repair classic vehicles. His prized restorations include Emma, a 1927 Willys Falcon Knight; Mary, a 1956 Hillman Minx; and Lola, a 1947 Fisher Body Chevy Coupe. With all these wheels and wings in motion, you can imagine it’s bustling and lively at his place!
Dave’s journey at Ozzi Kleen illustrates the perfect blend of dedication, expertise, and engagement. His quiet confidence, extensive knowledge, and genuine love for helping and connecting with others embody the true spirit of Ozzi Kleen and we’re fortunate to have him as part of our team!
